The Ark, Inc,.

The Ark, Inc. is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter that has served the Huntsville and Tennessee Valley communities since 1990. Operated entirely by volunteers, the organization is committed to rescuing homeless, abandoned, and injured animals while providing compassionate care until they find permanent, loving homes. The Ark's mission focuses on rescuing as many animals as possible, promoting responsible pet ownership, and ensuring every adopted pet is spayed or neutered before joining its new family.

Unlike many foster-based rescues, The Ark operates its own no-kill shelter where dogs and cats receive daily care, veterinary treatment, vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter services before adoption. The organization also offers a unique Foster-to-Adopt program for puppies, kittens, and animals that are still completing their medical care, allowing families to begin bonding with a pet while treatment is finished. Beyond adoption, The Ark partners with community organizations to provide temporary shelter for pets affected by domestic violence, home fires, and natural disasters, demonstrating its long-standing commitment to both animals and the people who love them.
